National Night Out is Right Around the Corner!

The 8th annual Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch National Night Out is on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 from 6-9pm at the ball field on Field Avenue. National Night Out is our family-oriented, educational, community fundraiser. Last year we raised over $10,000 with all of the proceeds earmarked for the playground at Fountain Park. This year we have our goal set even higher at $15,000 and it will be divided between our courageous local first responders, Aspinwall Police Department, Aspinwall Volunteer Fire Department and Foxwall EMS. We are asking for you to help by sponsoring NNO 2017.

The playground has been updated in phases over the last two years. New swings, a large ADA toddler apparatus, a new see-saw and spinners have been purchased with a grant that Aspinwall Borough was able to acquire and from money raised by Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch. The grant money was also used for bathroom and pavilion updates as well as an ADA ramp installed that allows access the upper portion of the park. The final step is to purchase a large multi-use piece of equipment for the elementary school-age children costing approximately $80-100,000. We currently have about $25,000 earmarked for this piece of equipment. With your help we can come closer to reaching our goal and completing the updates to Fountain Park. Your sponsorship will impact the children of Aspinwall for generations to come.

Here’s what National Night Out Sponsors will receive:
–  Sponsor logos will appear on the National Night Out flyer, distributed to over 3,000 Aspinwall residents.
–  Sponsors will appear on the ANW website, Facebook page and mentioned by name in ANW community emails.
–  PLATINUM (+$2,000), GOLD ($1,000), SILVER ($500), and BRONZE ($250) level sponsors will be featured on signage at the event (see page 2).

If you are interested in sponsoring NNO 2017, you can do so by filling out the sponsor form on page 2, or by contacting Jenny Ellermeyer at or (412) 303-2240. I am also happy to answer any questions you may have regarding National Night Out, sponsorship or Aspinwall Neighborhood Watch activities.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support! With your help, we can give Aspinwall children a safe and fun place to play!

Please Be Aware of Phone Scams

Dear Aspinwall Residents,
Telephone solicitors have recently been targeting Aspinwall residents with a couple of different scams: one is for a Medicare supplement with the caller saying they are from Blue Cross, the other claims to be from the IRS.  Both of these incidents were scams and attempted to gather personal data from the resident.
The Aspinwall Police would like residents to be alert for possible scam phone calls.  DO NOT give personal information to any caller or solicitor.
Here is an article that can help you identify if a phone call is a scam and what to do in the event you feel victimized.

Thank you for your attention to this and please remember to call 911 in the event of an emergency.
